The story of Malta, although scarcely famous, ranks as one of the most intensive air battles of the war, lasting from June 1940 to December 1942. Set upon by two juggernauts of the Mediterranean, the German Luftwaffe and the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force), only valour and superior tactics by the British Royal Air Force won the day for the island.

'Der Hexenkessel' (The Witch's Lair) was an apt name for the dark, foreboding Hurtgen Forest on the German frontier with Belgium. US Infantry moving in during late 1944 found an area of desolation and worse still, unusually strong German defenses. As losses esaclated American commanders fed in more and more replacements into the 'Death Factory', with devestating consequences.

The American daylight bombing offensive against Germany was one of the greatest air campaigns in the history of the world, lasting from the autumn of 1942 until the very last days of the European war. It was an epic showdown between the neophytic US 8th Air Force and the veteran Luftwaffe. NOT READY

The ciy of Caen was the primary objective of British and commonwealth forces under General Bernard Montgomery's 21st Army Group in Normandy. Operation 'Perch', begun just days (June 10) after D-Day was the secure the city for the British. Unfortunately, the British found their way first hindered at the village of Villers-Bocage by a lone SS Tiger, then barred by a combined panzer and infantry counterattack.

A section devoted wholly to my illustrated works, from maps to aircraft. If a talented freelance computer graphics artist is what you're looking for, then a visit to this part of the site is well worth a visit.

Stalingrad on the Volga River became the setting for one of the most ferocious battles of World War II. It's name would become synonomous with street fighting and close combat, as Russian and German troops clashed regulary amongst the shattered remnants of factories, warehouses and streets. Hitler had hoped that the fall of the city would strike a symbolic blow to Stalin (after who it was named), and would open the way for his armies to oil-rich fields in Southern Russia and Iran. Instead, Stalingrad would go down in history as the death knell of the German army. NOT READY
